My dear Antonio,

Your book is impossible to finish. The truth is that I do not want to finish it. You have heard of books that are page-turners. They are so exciting and stimulating that the readers cannot wait to turn the page. But I find with your book that I do not want to go on to the next page. I am too busy reflecting, lost in the enjoyment of what I have just finished reading and just beginning to understand. I do not want the book to end. Turning the page only moves me closer to having completed reading
about the wonder, the mystery, the complexity, the magic, and the meaning of what love is, and what it can be, between two mortals whose story will inspire all who read this book.

We will talk soon. But now, I am enjoying the story of your incredible relationship. It never occurred to me that the seemingly ordinary tale of a liaison between two people could be explained in such a realistic way. Your story of what Gladys means to you reveals, through prose and poetry, logic and mysticism, science and spirituality what, up to now, has never been expressed in such a way as to inspire and motivate true love –– operationalized in actions that can be not only profoundly understandable, but also intimately accessible to those wanting a template for two hearts that desire to beat as one.

Here, in my reading room, I will take my time and savor this moment with your small book, which will have such an enormous impact on those of us who are searching for honest answers to the complex puzzles of life. Gladys inspired you with her values, dignity, integrity, honesty, and her generous strength of character. You gave love to each other, and both of you now give love to the rest of us who are lucky enough to pick up this book and have the self-restraint to not rush through it. Spiritual fountains such as this are needed to quench the thirst of the human heart.

Thank you for your work of art. I admire what you have done. You have found that you can sing when paying tribute to the one you love. Through this precious small book, you continue your song, conducting a melody into the hearts and spirits of those who are able to enjoy the concert, turning each page slowly so as not to miss a note of this great love story — a love story that will surely endure the passage of time.

Many people ask themselves whether real love in fact does exist. Their answers are directly related to each individual’s experience. The lucky ones — who had felt this wonderful feeling — would say yes, others experiencing heart break after heart break would say no, and there may be others who are waiting for, and dream about, a blissful loving experience.

In the book Gladys, My Unforgettable Love, Dr. Morales-Pita makes us feel what real love means. Citing his own words “to love and to be loved is a big human achievement.” This achievement entails an authentic commitment. “In this same world full of wars, miseries, terrorist threats, hatred, and conflict, there is also tenderness. We have to discover this wonderful feeling in ourselves, our families, and our friends and to enjoy it as long as there is life. It would be a good way to comfort us in times of grief.”

I invite everyone to read the story of a deep loving experience lasting forty years, six months and one day until death separated the couple. This is a deserved tribute to the woman who inspired this book. The author — through his narrative — transcends an example of a man, who honestly reveals his thoughts, feelings, and total transformation under the influence of his extraordinary wife.

Ms. Raisa Mendoza, author and outstanding Hispanic lawyer, who has intensely worked in Chicago for nine years for the program Gift of Hope Chicago – a non for profit organization related to organ donation. She has also worked for Univision Radio, Radio Vive, Mujeres sin Censura with Vicente Serrano as well as for Univision Telemundo, Mundo Fox and Cable 25.

This book deals with the story of an outstanding woman, whose legacy is an example of love, compromise, and – above all – moral values.

“Gladys, My Unforgettable Love” is at once both a memoir of a 40 year romance as well as a guide to understanding the qualities one needs to develop within themselves before truly embarking on this thing called love. Antonio Morales-Pita combines a heartwarming,  honest, compelling and sometimes melancholy narrative with introspection and inquiry that forces the reader to not only become deeply committed to the journey of love between the protagonists, but to find those very steeping stones necessary to map out their own joy. Both a love story and a self-help manual, “Gladys, My Unforgettable Love” is the perfect compact tome for any person looking to improve their understanding of the tender balancing act and sacrifices that are key to lasting love.

It's been a busy summer, but I finally got around to reading the book, which lovingly and eloquently captures Gladys' grace, wit, courage, wisdom and intelligence. (I found the chapter about her illness particularly moving.) Congratulations on a huge accomplishment. The web site also looks great. I'm so happy for you.

You probably already know this, but the English translation of the new book is really good
